Baby Bunting Small Quilt Pattern PDF
It’s a wonderful thing when babies start arriving. My children are all grown - they fled the nest long ago - happily now they are making nests of their own. Baby Bunting is a cot quilt for my first granddaughter - Esther. Her beautiful little nursery is well kitted out with hand-painted striped walls, an old redwork quilt stretched on a frame and a set of animal appliques framed under glass. With colour, pattern and the animal world well represented I felt the room needed a very simple geometric pattern to add another layer.
Nothing fancy was needed and triangles fitted the simple, fun, practical brief. The technique for making these slightly off-kilter triangles is easy, and easily applicable for any size quilt. It’s a simple matter of changing the scale of the rows width and length - I’ll show you how. I’ll also show you how to do a ‘back binding’ - use this method to make the rows float off the edge....
You can use fresh yardage or use up scraps. I’ve used a combo of new and older cotton prints to give a fresh, timeless feel. Hopefully it will never reach Vintage status - this quilt is made to be slept under,
cuddled and washed to threads.
This PDF quilting pattern includes full fabric requirements, cutting instructions and step-by-step assembly guidance. You may customise it to your desired quilt size.
