The appliqué was machine stitched - with primitive hand stitch detail in an extra large running stitch in tapestry wool added later. The quilt has no binding or batting, simply a lovely wool backing. The circles are rotary cut using a small rotary cutter and a set of purchased circle templates. The bias grain on both the backgrounds and the\u003cbr\u003e\ncircles make it easy to machine stitch. The mohair circles also have a circle of batting underneath to fill and push them forward. My backgrounds are corduroy and all the circles are mohair wovens but woven wools would be beautiful to use also. The technique will work for cottons too.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eAlso included are instructions for the blind\/ back binding.
